She is gone

This morning at 4:40 I lost my girl Camille. She was a good friend to me for thirteen years. She always loved me, she was always excited to see me. At times she seemed a little over excited; I say that just because I've never considered myself all that special. I travel often and on every trip I can say I always wondered what she was doing and if she was missing me. She was my brat, I created that trait in her and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

She brought experiences I can say I don't think alot of dog owners have. I learned that there are 'doggie dermatologists'. Of course they are in Dallas, only the biggest and fanciest for a dog specialist. With her latest illness she was headed for the internist (another specialist). Only the best for my girl, I wouldn't have it any other way.

She would chase after a ball until you thought your arm would fall off. Of course I always gave up after I had enough of the slobber covered ball.

Camille loved the farm. She liked chasing rabbits and skunks. She would often try to play with the calfs in the pasture. The mother cows were not so sure about this and I have to say I am very surprised that she was never injured.

Greg teases me that I can never call any animal by its given name. Here are some of her aliases: Camilla Barker BowWow, Camilly, Milly, Camilla girl, Pooka dog, Millie Belle. I am sure that there are many others but these were my favorites. She answered to 'kitty-kitty' when called by my brother Shawn.

Greg and I buried her this morning before the sun was up, in typical Keeter, TX fashion. We donned our best tshirts and shorts. I held the flashlight and the hose (we use the hose to soften the dirt in these parts).

Christie, Bob and I am so sorry to hear about Camille! You and Greg gave her a good life. I know you will miss her. It will take awhile but someday in the future you will be able to smile instead of cry when you remember the joy she brought to your lives. Love, Mom and Bob.
